PAP Titration
Protocols.
Establishing optimal pressure settings to eliminate apneas, hypopneas, RERAs, and snoring across all sleep stages and body positions.
Optimal Titration Goals
AASM guidelines define an optimal titration as one that reduces the RDI (Respiratory Disturbance Index) to < 5 per hour for at least 15 minutes, which must include supine REM sleep at the selected pressure without continuous disturbing leaks.
CPAP
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. Delivers a fixed pressure during both inspiration and expiration.
First-line for uncomplicated OSABiPAP (BPAP)
Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure. Independent IPAP (inspiratory) and EPAP (expiratory) settings.
For hypoventilation or high CPAP intoleranceCompliance Metrics
Medicare (CMS) criteria for objective compliance requires use of the device for ≥ 4 hours per night on 70% of nights during a consecutive 30-day period anytime during the first 3 months of initial usage.
